This is not a post about the classic Rolling Stones song, but rather how the law of Murphy applies to trying to find the exact item you are looking for when shopping.

jgaleckas and I went to two different stores trying to find long fiberglass rods that you stick in the garden to support vining or tall plants. We have quite a number of exotic plants growing that are getting large enough to require these. As you may imagine we struck out. We found bamboo ones but they tend to rot where they go in the soil and then break at very inconvenient moments. We found shorter fiberglass rods but we already have plenty of those.

So today after going to see Wall-E (breathing hard in anticipation), we will try another Menards and maybe get lucky.

So we have once again proved that when you know what you want you can't find it and when you don't know what you want there are too many choices.
